Walmart Beauty Box

Hi everyone!

So I finally received my Walmart Beauty Box! As you know, I love the idea of these subscription boxes! But, I do have to say that this one left me a little less than impressed. Womp :( In fact, I hate to say this, but I probably could have picked up similar items in my dollar store for the same price of the $5 box. This box also only ships quarterly as of now, so you get one every 3 months.

The first (and actually only) item that caught my eye was the Burt's Bees White Tea Extract Facial Cleansing Towelettes. I have actually purchased these in the past and really liked them! They smell really fresh and do a decent job removing my makeup! I'll definitely end up using these or saving them for overnight trips/ travel!

I also received a little trial size of Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Meh.. not that I hate it or have anything against it, I'm just very particular about my lotions. This will probably also end up in my travel kit (for "in a pinch" situations).

Next up is this little travel sized Dove Deep Moisture Nourishing Body Wash. Meh again. I'm just not a huge fan of Dove body washes. And this one really feels like something I could have picked up in the dollar store to me. Nothing thrilling about receiving it in a subscription box. Plus, it's not like it's a brand new product most of us haven't heard of or tried before.

There was also a full sized Cover Girl lip gloss in a very unflattering frosty pink shade. Something about the color of this reminds me of an old lady. Not that there is anything wrong with old ladies... but at 28,  don't really want to look like one. It's also a very outdated shade. The whole "frosty" lip gloss look isn't really in style anymore. I feel like they kinda dropped the ball here.

And finally... the bane of my existence... shampoo sample packets. I don't know why, but I cannot stand hair sample packets like this! They make my skin crawl. There is literally like a drop in each packet and trying to use them in the shower is never a fun ordeal. I was "lucky" enough to get not one.. but TWO different brands of hair care packet sets. One is Loreal Advanced Hair Care Color Vibrancy, with a shampoo, conditioner, and "Instant Shock Treatment", whatever that is. The second one was a John Frieda Luxurious Volume packet set of shampoo and conditioner. I've actually tried some of the John Frieda Voluminous line, and didn't mind it. But ugh.. These packets all the time just need to stop! Lol!

So overall I felt like this box was really disappointing. I felt like it was just a lot of junk really. I mean it is only $5, but there has to be more exciting things that they can do for $5! I don't know how long I'll continue subscribing to this one!

Thanks for reading!

December Favorites

Hi beauty babes!
I hope you all had an amazing month and a great time celebrating the holidays with friends and family! I can't believe how quickly it all went by! We spend weeks preparing and.. Poof- Its over in a split second! Lol! But, in the midst of all the hustle and bustle, I did have several favorites this past month!

As we all know, December is probably the busiest month of the year. I've had plenty of late nights baking, wrapping gifts, decorating, etc. and the next morning it’s a little difficult to really get going. I've been opting for simpler makeup looks most of the months and grabbing for my Perricone MD No Foundation- Foundation Serum! This stuff is awesome and so simple to use! I start by applying my Milk of Magnesia as a primer and then apply the No Foundation-Foundation Serum right over top of it and blend everything into my skin using my fingers and then set it with a light dusting of powder. It is a very liquidy consistency and extremely light! It almost feels as though you have nothing on but a light moisturizer, but somehow you still get great coverage! I find that this is actually perfect for my skin during the Winter months and gives me a bit of added moisture. I don’t think this would be a great option for my skin in the Summer or warmer months because my skin is very oily, but for now, it is working wonderfully for me! I was using a deluxe sized sample of this for a while (a little bit goes a long way) and just caved and bought the full size a few weeks ago! :)

Keeping in theme with the issue of late nights and tired eyes, I've also been obsessed with It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Anti-Aging Concealer. This was actually a sample in my November Ipsy Bag and ever since I received it I’ve been loving it! It is a thicker consistency and all you need is the tiniest drop! It gives AMAZING coverage for dark circles, tired eyes, redness, etc. and doesn't crease or get cakey at all! I just set it with a light powder and I’m good to go! This is another one that I recently purchased a full size of- and even turned my Mom and aunt on to it as well!

Another quick and easy product I've been using a lot is cream shadow sticks! I’ve particularly been loving Mally Beauty’s Evercolor Shadow stick in Champagne. It is great on its own for just a quick pop of color and shimmer, or underneath powder shadows to give them a little extra hold and oomph! They are especially good for loose eyeshadows, or ones with a bit of glitter or shimmer!  They eventually dry on the eye and don’t stay sticky or crease like some cream eyeshadows can. They’re definitely great for on the go use, or days when you just want to be a little lazy with your makeup routine.
My other go to eye product has been Mac Cosmetics’ Soft Brown eyeshadow! This is the most perfect crease shade I have come across in my life! I have a pretty fair skin tone, so some crease shades can come off looking too dark or too orangey on me. But, my go to girl at my Mac counter steered me in the right direction with this one (Thanks, Lauren)! I love that it is so versatile and can go with any eye look. It blends like a dream and is so easy for me to use! I can’t believe I went so long without this in my life! Lol!

I've also been using my Too Faced Chocolate Bar a lot this past month! Sometimes eyeshadow palettes end up being something that I use to death when I first get and then sort of phase out as I buy new products. I've been trying to really look at what I have in my makeup collection and make better use of the things I already own (yay saving money!) and this is probably one of my favorite palettes that I own. The possibilities are endless with this one! A lot of people look at The Chocolate Bar Palette and see a lot of shadows that are basically all the same color. Not me! I tend to gravitate towards golds, bronze, and cocoa-ish eyeshadow shades anyway, so for me this is great way to use those shades that I love while still adding a pop of color here and there! The texture of the shadows is so nice and smooth and they are easily packed on or blended. And come on… that chocolate cocoa smell when you open this baby up?! Who could pass that up! Lol!

My Mac girl, Lauren, also hooked me up with a fabulous lip liner last time I saw her! She had used it on me way back in September when she was helping me pick out a new lipstick for a wedding I was attending. At the time, I opted to just go for the lipstick, being frugal and thinking I could find a dupe, but nothing compared to the one she used. The shade is called Absolutely It from the Pro Long-wear line! And the name is so fitting because this lip liner is basically the most perfect shade in the world! It goes with so many looks and is so flattering! I use this with basically every lipstick I wear! I am so in love with it and glad I finally took the plunge and purchased it!

Another product I quickly fell in love with this past month is Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask in Champagne! You guys, it is amazing! It is unlike anything I have ever put on my lips in my life! It feels so good having it on! Between the cold weather, wind and matte lipstick trend, my lips were definitely starting to need a little more TLC than usual. I splurged on this on a whim and I am so glad that I did! It feels thick like a Vaseline type consistency but thins out a bit when your lips warm it up. It doesn't get goopy, gross, or that weird cakey flakey thing that some lip treatments can sometimes get. It just stays smooth and continues feeling hydrating the entire time you have it on! I love sleeping it, but also find that  am using it a lot during the day too! I like the champagne version because it gives just a bit more shimmer and shine! It is a little on the pricier side, but a little bit of this goes such a long way and the tube will last you quite a while! To me, this is one of those “Run, don’t walk to your local Sephora!” products! You need this! Trust me! And you’re welcome!

In addition to the Lip Mask, I have really come to totally fall head over heels for the entire Bite Beauty brand! It all started with the Best Bite Remix set and since then I cannot be stopped! I have also picked up several of the Mix N’ Mingle Lip Minis that they had out for the holidays. I just can’t stop buying them! I bought several as gifts, and yes, several for myself as well! Hahaha! So far, my favorite one is the Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo in Nude Rose/Light Brown. The nude shade is perfect and not too light, while the pinker shade offers a really pretty and feminine color! They go on super smooth and creamy, have tons of pigment, and feel really comfortable on the lips! I honestly can’t say enough good things about this brand! If you haven’t tried any of their lip products yet, definitely give one of the Mix N’ Mingles a try! As of now, they are still available on Sephora’s site and at $12 are super affordable!

This month I actually had a fragrance favorite! I typically stick to my usual perfumes and rarely change it up, but when I saw this Snow Mint Fragrance mist in Victoria’s Secret I was very intrigued! It was part of their holiday collection this year and the mint greenish/blue bottle definitely caught my eye! But then… I sprayed it and it was so wonderful!! It literally smells like Winter, but better! I picture little kids playing in the snow, or girls ice skating on a pond with rosy cheeks! Haha! To me it mostly smells like vanilla, but there is definitely a subtle mint note that changes the whole tone of the vanilla background! It’s so hard to describe! The first time I wore this to work, one of my coworkers walked in the door and stopped in his tracks and was like “Wow… you smell really good!” lol! It’s subtle but noticeable at the same time! And the scent is so light that it’s not offensive or overpowering! I don’t think I’ve ever used a body spray this much since I was 15. Haha! Annnnd the Victoria’s Secret Semi Annual Sale is coming up this weekend, you might be able to snag this for a great price!

Annnd now I will leave you with one more thing that I could absolutely not get enough of this month! You. Need. These. Now.! They are Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels by Maple Ridge Farms! This is actually a chocolate company that my mom does business with through corporate gift orders. These are the most amazing chocolates I have ever tastes in my entire life! They are so rich and creamy but still firm like a traditional caramel! The chocolate is really great quality and melts in your mouth perfectly! And mmm the teeny tiny salty sprinkles add the perfect touch to round out the sweetness of the chocolate and butteryness of the caramel! Seriously.. You NEED these!!! I could literally eat an entire box in one sitting (but I refrain and try to savor them)! Santa was even nice enough to leave me a box in my stocking! :) I will link to their website, and if you need a gift basket or what the hell, just want one for yourself, I highly reccomend this company! All of the products are amazing! I also particularly love their English Butter Toffee and Chocolate Covered Pretzels! Basically I would eat a shoe if they dipped it in their chocolate! Lol! :)

So that officially puts a wrap on December (with a pretty bow on top of course)!! It's been a busy month but also a fun one! I wish you all have a very Happy New Year and hope that 2015 brings you a beautiful year!

The Easiest Liquid Liner!

Hi beautifuls!
I have heard a lot of beauty gurus talk about Jessie's Girl's Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner lately, and I was finally able to find it! I've only ever seen the Jessie's Girl cosmetics sold in Rite Aide stores, but for whatever reason, the stores near me never had this product for sale! Well, the other day I randomly stopped in Rite Aide and wasn't even going to bother looking for it, but something near the display caught my eye and while I was over there I noticed a single box haphazardly placed in an awkark spot of the display! And what do you know... It was a single, lonely Jessie's Girl Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner!!! I snatched that box like someone else was going to grab it before me! Lol!

I tried it out to see if it really lived up to all the hype.. And WOW! It is fabulous! Seriously the easiest liquid eyeliner I have ever used in my life! I tend to struggle with winged eyeliner, it's just one of those things I've never perfected, but with this one it is seriously a breeze!!! I think it is all in the long, pointed, felt tip of the pen! It is really flexible, which seems like it would make it flimsy and difficult to control, but it actually helps you get your wing exactly where you want it to go! It's a very pigmented formula and not super liquidy or wet! It's just the perfect consistency for a controled liquid line or wing!

If you too struggle with liquid liner or winged eyeliner, or if you just want a great quality liquid liner than definitely pick this one up! It's simply amazing! :)

Review: Sephora Favorites- Give Me Some Lip

Hi beautifuls!
So... confession time. I purchased this amazing lip set about two months ago for my besties birthday. As soon as I got home, I immediately regretted not buying one for myself. I was so bummed! This little mini lip set was just too good to be true for $25 and I don't know what I was thinking not getting one too! When my bestie was opening her birthday gift and swatching all the lip glosses we were both basically drooling over all the great lip products! I definitely had to have it! Lol! So I finally gave in and let myself buy it! Yay! :)

I love this set for so many reasons!
1. Great mix of lip colors
2. A nice sampling of a product from 6 different and popular brands
3. A mix of textures- Lipsticks, Pencils, and Glosses
4. One full sized product
5. Five very deluxe sized products

The fist lip product in this set is this adorablely tiny Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Naked! It's super tiny but super cute! I love the classic pink nude shade and the formula is very creamy! It's comfortable on the lip and has a glossy finish that gives a little bit of shine to the lips in a nice and subtle way!

The next product in the set is an obvious Sephora fan favorite! Nars lip gloss in Orgasm! What is there not to love about this lip gloss? First off, the color is ridiculously gorgeous and flattering on everyone (hence it's fame)! It's a pinky, peachy, coral that immediately makes you look brighter! I love this shade all year round, but especially more in the summer months! Nothing looks better with a tan! I also love the newer formula of Nars lipglosses. In the past they were very goopy and sticky, but their new formula has really improved! They're thinner and creamier now, which feels much more comfortable!

Third in the set is the Mini Full-on Lip Cream by Buxom in White Russian. The color is a really simple pale pinkish nude, and great for some every day shine! It's hard to tell, but it seems that there is the teeny tiniest bit of shimmer or pearl in this color as well. The formula of the Buxom lipglosses isn't my favorite... They're slightly sticky and tacky. Nothing horrible, just not the most comfortable on the lip!

Up next is the Lust For Lacquer lipgloss by Marc Jacobs in Kissability. This is a really sheer pinky raspberry color that has tiny flecks of shimmer and glitter in it! These are a bit on the sticky side, but not terribly uncomfortable!

For me, this Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Meritage is the star of the set! I'm completely obsessed with Bite lip products and I was thrilled to see this in here! It's a gorgeous redish pink raspberry shade! It's a great, fun, pop of color, but not wild or crazy! I absolutely love the formula of these lip pencils! They're so creamy and apply so easily while having major color payoff! They're super comfortable on the lips, very long lasting, and don't dry out throughout the day! I absolutely love these, I can't say it enough! :)

The final lip product, and full sized item in the set is a Be Legendary Lip Gloss by Smashbox in Pout! This wouldn't typically be a shade I would purchase but there is something so beautiful about this! It's a VERY pale pearl colored shade with the slightest bit of pink undertone to it! It has a pearly finish to it with flecks of shimmer!   It is a really comfortable gloss as well! Not sticky or tacky at all and definitely on the thinner side! It gives a sheer finish to the lip and would really look amazing overtop of any lipstick or pencil! I'm really impressed by this one and think I would even purchase more of these glosses! I love it!

As a whole I think this little kit is amazing! Not only is it a great value, but there are really great lip products in it too! And the size of the lipsticks and glosses are pretty decent! I know for a fact that this makes a great gift for the beauty lovers in your life (or yourself haha)! No one would be disappointed to receive this! :)

I hope you enjoyed this review! Thanks for reading!

Family Favorite: Easy Chocolate Pretzel Jumble

Hi loves!
I have a super simple (like crazy simple) sweet treat for you today!
Everyone loves chocolate and pretzels, their like peanut butter and jelly. They just are meant to be together! Over the years I've been making a variation of the traditional chocolate covered pretzel that has become a highly requested family favorite! I don't know why, but everyone loves these things! I would say they are a cross between a chocolate covered pretzel and a cookie (only because of the shape, really). Now, I will admit, these aren't the prettiest sweet treats on the dessert table, but they are so good, it doesn't even matter! They've jokingly been called several things over the years in my family, such as Reindeer poop, Snowman poop, etc. All quite unappetizing descriptions lol, but then again when you have a big, crazy family, someone is bound to say it LOL! I choose to simply and lovingly call them Pretzel Jumbles! :)

What you'll need:
1 Bag of Make'n mold chocolate wafers (any flavor is fine, or any brand of chocolate wafers)
2-3 cups of broken pretzel pieces

Instructions:

1. Chop pretzels in a food processor (a blender will work, or place pretzels in a plastic bag and beat with a rolling pin). Chop until pretzels are in small pieces and you have about 2-3 cups of broken pretzel pieces (depending on how chocolately or pretzely you want them to be).
2. In a microwave safe bowl, melt chocolate wafers on 30 second intervals until smooth and completely melted.
3. Pour broken pretzels into melted chocolate and combine. If mixture seems too thin, add more pretzels until you reach your desired consistency.
4. While still warm/ melted, spoon tablespoon sized (think the size of a baked cookie) onto wax paper or aluminum foil.
5. Allow chocolate to cool/dry completely before removing.
6. Store in an airtight container.

Again, not the prettiest dessert, and you won't be all "WOW! They look amazing and so yummy!" by them, but they will be loved by everyone who comes into contact with them! I make tons of these every year for the holidays and let me tell you, come the New Year, there is not a trace of them left over! If you have even a half hour of spare time, whip up a batch of these babies! Your friends and family will thank you and ask for them year after year!

Hope you all have a sweet and beautiful holiday! ♥

December Ipsy Glam Bag

Hi guys!
Have I told you how much I'm in LOVE with Ipsy?! Each month I fall in love all over again! If you aren't a subscriber, definitely get in on this! For $10/month it is worth it and so fun!

This month's Glam bag was no exception! The bag, once again, is adorable! It's a cute little black satin bag with a magenta/maroonish zipper. Very holiday season appropriate!

The first item in my glam bag was a mini Bumble and Bumble All Style Blow Dry cream. Right now, my hair needs all the help it can get! I am desperate for anything that might help so I was excited to see this one! I can't wait to give it a try!

My next item was a Nourish Organic Renewing Eye Cream. Turns out, my eyes also need all the help they can get right now too! Winter weather and long busy days are starting to take their toll! I love how gigantic this sample size seems! I only use a teeny weeny dot or cream for my under eyes, so I'm sure this will last me a very long time! I'm excited to give this one a try and I'm hopeful that it will help me out a bit! :)

One of my favorite things this month was an Infinity Shadow/ Crease Duet Brush by Crown Brush! I love a good makeup brush and I know just looking at it that this one will be put to good use in my collection! The full shadow brush end will be great for packing shadow on, while the small crease brush end is the perfect side for defining the crease and outer corner areas! I've never heard of this company, but I'm excited to see what they have to offer!

I also received a deluxe sample size of Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes mascara! I've used this mascara before and actually think it is pretty decent. It's not my favorite, but it gets the job done pretty well! I think this will definitely be going in my makeup bag for touch ups and travel purposes!

And finally the cherry on top of this months glam bag... NYX Butter Lip Balm in Red Velvet! I love these little guys! They are perfect for this time of year (because chapped lips) and add a nice little tint to the lips that basic chapstick lacks! I was also thrilled to see this red shade! What could be better for the (very quickly approaching) holidays?! LOVE it and know it will be used a lot! :)

So all in all it was a very successful Ipsy Glam Bag once again! My only complaint would be having to wait until the next month to get my hands on more of this awesomeness! Lol!

Review: Bite Beauty's Best Bite Remix Set

Hi loves!
Today I'm reviewing this awesome set by Bite Beauty! I've recently fallen IN LOVE with Bite Beauty and all of their lip products! I don't know how or why I have gone so long without trying them sooner! This brand is full of great quality all around! I have zero complaints and
this set is truly amazing! It includes four "mini" versions of Bite's High Pigment Lip Pencils, but honestly there is nothing "mini" about them to me! They are the perfect size! Great for throwing in your purse, makeup bag, or clutch for an evening out!
The packaging of this set is amazing! The small red tin is a great size (not much bigger than an Altoids tin) and it even has a mirror on the inside lid, which makes it perfect for traveling! I would even say you could possibly use it to carry other small products as well!
The formula of these High Pigment Lip Pencils is unlike anything else I have tried! They are the creamiest lip colors on the planet!! So unbelievably comfortable on the lips and they're not at all drying! They literally glide onto your lips when you apply them and a little bit goes a really long way! They are so incredibly pigmented that I find I only need to outline my lips and go over them once or twice tops! They look so smooth on my lips and even appear as luscious and creamy as they feel! Like I said, they are unlike any other lip products I have tried! :)

Let's talk about the colors in this set... Also PERFECT! I really think that there is a shade for every look, mood, and event in this little set! I can't tell you enough how much I love every single one!

First up is this gorgeous shade in Pomegranate! The most dramatic of the bunch, which gives a reddish berry tone that almost reminds me of red poinsettia! A perfect red for the holiday season that Taylor Swift would be proud of (if it's not already in her red lipstick arsenal)! ;)

Next up is Rhubarb! A really pretty mauve, berryish, pinky tone that is great for an every day pop of color! This color is a little harder for me to describe, but it is so pretty and I think it would be really flattering on every skin tone! I love this for days when I am tired of my classic nude lip, and I want just a little bit more color while still keeping my lips simple!

Sablé is the color that I have worn most so far and it is one of the prettiest nude shades of life! You literally just cannot go wrong with this color! I think I wore this one to work everyday for like a week recently! It's simple, but elegant, and perfect for daytime or even nights when you are wearing a more dramatic eye look! I think it has definitely won a spot in my top five favorite nude lipsticks ever! Love, love, love, LOVE!!!

Finally, the last shade in this set is Winterberry! For me, this one is definitely the "fun" one in the bunch! A beautiful pinkish- purpley berry color that reminds me of a deeper radiant orchid shade! Great for days when you just want a fun, bold, and bright lip look! I think this one is also great for the holiday season and a perfect jewel tone for the Winter months (hence Winterberry, I totally get it)

I really just love this set! It's so beautiful and makes a great gift for the beauty lovers in your life! This has been sold out on Sephora's website for a few weeks now, BUT I have seen several left in stores! I think this is also priced perfectly at $25 (in Sephora stores)! The Lip Pencils are really a decent size and hello... you get four amazing shades to play with! I'm definitely gifting this one this year to a few beautiful friends, and I really think they will love it as much as I do!

If you can't find the kit or aren't interested in the whole set, I highly recommend trying some of Bite Beauty's products! I seriously can't rave about them enough! I even have a few more items to show you in the next few weeks! :)

Hope you enjoyed this review and as always, thanks so much for reading!
