New Favorite Hair Treatment

Hi guys!
So, winter is quickly approaching and my skin and hair are getting dryer by the day it seems! I also need a haircut like CRAZY! Ever since I (regretfully) chopped my hair off last year I have been trying to grow it back and it's been a long and sometimes painful process!
I explained in my October Favorites post that combing my hair when I get out of the shower has become a (literally) painful ordeal everyday. It is so freaking knotty that I am ending up with clumps of hair being pulled out! Ugh!!!
I've found a leave-in conditioner and detangler by Not Your Mother's and that seems to help a lot! But, I still felt like my hair needed a little something extra to help sooth its split ends (which is what is causing the tangling and knots). Now, I have to be super careful about the hair products that I use because my hair is so thin and fine! Anything too heavy weighs it down and makes it look even flatter and more lifeless, not to mention ridiculously greasy! I try to stay away from oils because of more than a few traumatizing experiences in the past (lets just say you could have fried an egg on my greasy head)
I decided to get creative and used my OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk Split End Mender and mixed in a generous dropper full of Josie Maran Argan Oil Light! I rubbed the mixture between my palms to make sure it was well combined and then saturated the ends of my dry hair with it! I suppose you could do this with damp hair as well, but I felt like it would absorb better if it was dry. I could be wrong though! Once my ends were covered, I ran a comb through them just to make sure it was completely coated. I tied my hair into a loose pony tail and went to bed.
The next morning I washed my hair like normal and then sprayed in just a little bit of the Not Your Mother's Way To Grow Leave-In Conditioner near the top of my head and started combing. Oh my god! My hair felt so good! The comb didn't rip my hair out for once! I let it air dry a bit and then blew it dry like normal and the end result was awesome! It felt super soft, silky, and was shinier than ever (in a good way, not a greasy one)! It looks and feels so much healthier and vibrant!
This is definitely going to be a go to hair treatment for me from this point on! It works better than any deep conditioner, treatment, or product I have tried in the past! I'm in love! If you feel like your hair could use a little TLC definitely give this a shot!

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving!! :)

The Most Gorgeous Lip Colors Ever!!

Hi guys!
Just a quick review I HAD to share with you! Last night I picked up these two lipsticks from Milani in CVS on a bit of a whim and I. Am. So. Glad. I. Did.!!!! Eeeek!!! They are sooooo gorgeous! I'm totally in love! I think they are so perfect for the holiday season coming up!

I really love the formula of the Milani lipsticks and these two are no exception! They are really comfortable on the lips and have great staying power!

The first shade, Chilled Brandy, is a beautiful, frosted (in a good way), burgundy, red! It almost reminds me of velvet (again in a good way) look on the lips! It is basically a color that comes to mind when I think of the holidays, which is why it's perfect for this time of year! Run, do not walk, to your local CVS store and buy this right now! Thanksgiving is next week after all! ;)

The second shade is Black Cherry and it really is the perfect name for it! It is such a pretty dark purple color! It really works for the whole "vampy" lip trend but in a more subtle way that doesn't come off looking like you are trying to seem "goth" or dark and mysterious! Lol! This one doesn't have any frost or shimmer in it, but does have a glossier finish! I love this for everyday and a fun holiday lip! :)

I mean it, go now and pick these up! I won't be offended if you stop reading now! ;) You will not regret adding these shades to your lipstick collection! I promise!!

Have a great weekend! :)

November Ipsy Bag!

Hi guys!
I just received this months Ipsy Bag and it definitely did not disappoint! This is only my second month subscribing, but so far I am really loving everything about this subscribtion service!

First let's talk about the bag! Totally adorable, and made by Forever21 Cosmetics for Ipsy! What is there not to love about sparkly silver glitter?! I love that the outside is covered by plastic so the glitter doesn't flake off or get scratchy! The hot pink trim zipper is also a nice girly touch! The size is perfect to throw all of your necessities in your handbag! I love it!

The first thing that I was so excited to see in this months bag was It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer! Yay!!! I've been wanting to try this so I was grateful to see it in there! I received the shade Nuetral Medium and it is a pretty decent match for me! If I were to purchase this I think I might go a shade lighter though. I was so excited that I actually cracked this baby open and gave it a try already! And I am so freaking in love! It's a much thicker consistency than I usually use, but it blended really easily and nicely! I didn't experience any creasing and it gave GREAT coverage! It almost looked and felt like a second skin and lasted beautifully all day long! I think I'm in love! <3 lol!

I also received this Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan  Oil Hairspray! This was a totally new product to me, but I have been really into Argan oil lately so I was excited to get it in my bag! This hairspray has a ton of claims like volume, shine, sulfate free, extra hold, fast drying, and infused with Keratin! Wow! From the looks of these claims, this sounds like pretty much everything you could ever want in a hair product! I'm curious to see what this stuff can do! I did give my hair a tiny spritz and I can tell you that it smells amazing! :)

As we know I am a little bit of an eyeliner adict and snob, especially because my eyes are super sensitive to some brands and formulas! I was interested to see this gorgeous full sized Gem Pencil in Ultra Olive by Starlooks! The brand is new to me, so I'll have to see how the formula works with my sensitive eyes! The swatch is absolutely stunning though! It's almost a metilic olive green with teeny tiny flecks of gold glitter! I'm praying my eyes can handle it because it really is beautiful!

Next item in my bag was this SeaRx Birchsap Moisturizing Lotion. This was another new brand and product me, but I love the fresh scent and it feels really good on my skin! It has a slightly citrusy smell and absorbed right in to my skin to leave behind the softest feeling ever! It wasn't goopy, greasy, or sticky like I often find some lotions and moisturizers to be! I'm very picky about that sort of think because unusually can't stand the feeling! I really liked this one though and think I will look into eventually purchasing a full size! My only complaint about the sample would be that it seemed like the little sample tube was only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way full! I want more!!

The last item was this J.Cat Wonder Lip Paint in Mad Splatter! This one is pretty much exactly like an O.C.C. Lip Tar! It seems to be much thinner and glossier than the O.C.C. Lip Tars, but just as pigmented! I love the super bright berry toned hot pink of this shade! I think it will be great for the upcoming holiday season! In just a quick lip test, this feels really comfortable, and a little tiny bit goes a LONG way!! Like a really long way! All you'll need is a tiny dot to get full coverage and color payoff! This tube will literally last me my entire life! Lol! I think you do need to be a little careful with these though because they are so bright and so thin, a bleeding lip line is never cute or sexy! Lol!

Overall, this was another great Ipsy Bag! I'm really glad I signed up for this subscribtion service and I'm kicking myself for not doing it soon! If you've been thinking about it, take the plunge! It's awesome and you will love it!

Top Fall Lip Colors

Hi guys!
Today I'm bringing you my favorite lipsticks for Fall! I love this time of year and all of the deep warm colors that come with it, and this season's lip trends have not disappointed! I've picked up SEVERAL lip products in the last few weeks/months or so (I can't seem to get enough) but the ones I'm sharing with you today have been my go-to ones that I've really fallen head over heals for!

This lipstick, in the shade 1995 is by Gerard Cosmetics. The color was actually created by Jaclyn Hill (check out her Youtube, she's amazing) and she went for a sort of Kylie Jenner, 1990's inspired shade, and it is absolutely gorgeous! If you search the hashtag #1995 on Instagram, you will see just how obsessed people have become with this lipstick! I totally bought into the hype and decided that I needed to have it too! Annnd I am so glad that I did! It is so pretty and screams Fall! The color is a warm brownish red that almost reminds me of blended spices (if that makes sense). It is very pigmented and one of the longest lasting lipsticks I have ever worn! I'm in love!

My next favorite, I actually wrote about in my October Favorites post. It's Mac's Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Pure Pout. This has been my go-to nude for the last three months or so. It's such as great formula! Super creamy and NEVER dries out on my lips. It's not the longest lasting, but I don't mind having to reapply it every few hours or so. I love that this can be paired with just about any lip liner shade to transform the color! But even on it's own, it gives you a very polished and put together look. Even if you're just out running errands or sitting in your office at work. It's simple, but can always be played up to add a little extra oomph to your look!

This next lipstick is one from Too Faced that I purchased last Winter and pulled out of my "Fall/Winter" lipstick collection recently. Now I find that I have been reaching for this one a lot! The color is so beautiful! It's a warm, pinkish, brownish, mauvey tone. Think of a deep colored berry dipped in chocolate and that is exactly the color! I really like the formula of the La Creme Color Drenched Lipsticks! They apply very creamy, but almost dry to more of a semi-matte finish. I don't find this to be drying at all though, and still feel some moisture after a few hours of having it on. If I don't reapply throughout the day, I find that the color is still on my lips, just like a stain would be! You pretty much can't go wrong with this one!

I've also been really into jumbo lip pencils lately! Especially the L'Oreal Glossy Balms! I love this shade in Petite Plum! It's quite possibly the most perfect Fall plum shade I own! I also love that these are aren't super thick, but still have a ton of pigment and color payoff! They are glossy, but not crazy shiny or slick. I actually find that these have great staying power! Throughout the day the glossiness wears off, but my lips end up with a nice stain to them! The color is also really flattering! It's not so dark that it comes off vampy, but also not so light that it appears washed out! It's just a gorgeous and perfect Fall jewel tone! :)

Matte lips have been a huge trend this season! One of my favorite mattes has been Maybelline's Lust For Blush! It's is extremely comfortable on the lips and doesn't make my lips feel dry or chalky like some matte lip products can! It's EXTREMELY long lasting! Like, literally 7am-5pm staying power! I was pretty amazed by how comfortable these we're considering that they last so long! I really love the shade of this one too! It's a gorgeous pinky-purple tone that is on the brighter side, but not in an obnoxious way! It's just adds a nice pop of color to the face! I like these so much, I have a few more shades on my wish list!

I picked up this NYX Butter Lipstick in Pops at the end of the summer and it has been a favorite ever since! I love the simple, pinky nude tone of this! When I'm not all dolled up and just want to throw a little something on my lips to look more polished this is my best friend! I think this shade would really flatter just about every skin tone! These also feel amazing on the lips! They are super creamy and well.. Buttery! Lol! It's a great Fall shade, but I also think this one is great color for any season!

When I've wanted to go for a more dramatic look, this gorgeous deep red has been the first one I grab! I really love the formula of these Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms! For a matte lip these are also one of the more comfortable ones I've tried! The dry and wear more like a stain and don't dry my lips out! They're very pigmented and last really well! I really like this one for a dramatic red lip because it doesn't budge! And we all know that wearing a red lip can sometimes be a struggle to keep looking clean! It's just the perfect Fall red!

This next one isn't exactly a lip color. But, it has been one of my favorite lip products this whole season! It's a clear gloss in the Comfort scent from Bath & Body Works! It has a decent amount of sparkle in it, but it doesn't come off like you are 13 years old! I love wearing this over other lipsticks for an little bit of extra gloss and sheen! I usually apply this around mid day or late afternoon when I feel like I need a pick me up! And it keeps my lips from feeling too dry throughout the day! Oh! And it smells AMAZING!!! I'm obsessed with everything in this scent! The pumpkin & marshmallowy smell just screams everything Fall! :) I love it!!

That about wraps up my lip obsessions lately! I've loved all of the trendy colors so far this season! I would love to hear about the colors and lip products you have been loving too!
Thanks for reading!

Boston Adventure!

Hi lovies!
Sorry I've been MIA for the last week or so! Things have been a little bit busy these past few weeks and I haven't had much time to sit down and write! I also haven't been able to do any baking, cooking, or shopping lately, so things here on the blog have been a bit slow. I do have some fun posts planned for the near future though, so please stay tuned! :)

This weekend my boyfriend and I went on a little weekend getaway to Boston! I've always wanted to go and we recently celebrated our two year anniversary together, so we thought it would be a nice treat to go somewhere fun to get away for a few days! We live in Southern New Jersey, so it was quite a drive to Boston, MA! We left around 9AM Friday morning, and it took us about 6 1/2 hours to get there! I drove for the first 2 1/2 hours, but going through some of the winding roads near the Hudson River did me in! I was basically just short of having a full on panic attack! From that point on, I let Tim take over! LOL! We only stopped once on the way and only for a quick bathroom break, and after a long stretch through most of Connecticut, we finally arrived at our destination around 3:15pm!

We checked in and relaxed for a little bit before heading into the city for a Celtics game that night! The Celtics game was so much fun! Coming from South Jersey where we cheer on our Philly teams like the 76ers, going to a basketball game in Boston was a much different experience than we are used to! :) People there actually like basketball and got really into the game! The Celtics were actually pretty good, and ended up winning the game (the Sixers always lose whenever we go). It was a close game too, so it was pretty exciting to watch!

The next morning, we found a little place to have breakfast in the town we were staying in (Bedford, MA) and then headed into the city! Our first stop was the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum! For anyone who knows me, I am a HUGE Kennedy family fanatic! I'm just obsessed with their whole story and history. For a long time the museum was in my top 5 of places I wanted to visit! and I was so excited to finally be there!

When we got to the museum, we entered a theater where they show a 15 minute film giving the background story of the Kennedy family. After the film, you are able to wander around the exhibits and explore historic items and some of their belongings.

Here are some of the things that fascinated me (because I'm a geek and I don't care):

  •  JFK's presidential golf balls, still with grass stains and dirt on them.
  • The famous golf cart (the one I always saw in pictures with children riding along side of JFK and hanging onto the back) which I loved seeing because it has always been on of my favorite photographs.
  • Doodles and notes written by JFK during meetings regarding the Cuban Missile Crisis.
  • Jewelry and furniture gifted to Jackie from other rulers and diplomats.
  • Jackie's dresses and belongings from her childhood
  • Artwork that Jackie drew and painted.
  • The Attorney General's Office and RFK's desk replicated.
  • A piece of the Berlin Wall- which totally blew my mind to see in person!

It was really neat to see all of these things in person. I've seen so many photos over the years, but there was something about actually physically standing in front of them that was really moving and exciting! Their story is so fascinating to me, full of history, glamour, and most of all, tragedy. I can't help but be sucked in by all of it and standing among these things just made it all the more real for me.

In addition to the contents of the museum being amazing, the architecture of the building was outstanding as well. We were able to get some really great pictures in the pavilion and outside overlooking the harbor and bay area. It was so beautiful!
The whole museum was definitely my favorite stop on our trip and I highly recommend checking it out if you're ever in the Boston area!

After the museum, we traveled back to the city area to do more site seeing! We spent most of the afternoon walking along the Freedom Trail and stopping at various spots around the city! We stopped at the Paul Revere House, which, I'll be honest, didn't really do much for me... pretty much just a few rooms, and all things I've seen in historic locations in Jersey and Philly.

While we were walking around, we ended up in the Paul Revere Mall, which is sort of like a court yard. While we were there we saw a display of dog tags. Each dog tag represented a service member lost during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  Seeing this, you can't help but be moved and get a little choked up. It's mind boggling to see so many tags hanging there, but despite it being a sad site to see, it's nice to see our fallen service members honored and memorialized in such a nice way.

We continued on the trail and stopped to check out the Old North Church, and Copp's Hill Burying ground. Both really neat places to see a ton of old history. After that we kind of abandoned the trail and went down to the Charles River docks and toured the USS Constitution and a WWII destroyer ship (that I now forget the name of). Both were pretty cool to see, and I now know I would not last longer than a day confined to a boat like that. Lol!

Later that night we went out to a fancy dinner at the Capital Grille to celebrate our last night in Boston and two great years together! The food was amazing and it was really nice to treat ourselves to a fancy meal since it's not a place we would go to very often!

That pretty much sums up our fun weekend getaway in Boston! Other than the driving portion of the trip, it was a lot of fun and I'm really glad we went! I know this post is a little outside of my normal realm of baking and beauty, but Boston really is such a great city, that I had to share with you! It also explains why I've been a bit out of my normal routine and haven't been writing as much, but I promise I'm getting back into the swing of things this week and have some fun posts planned for you!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed reading about our little trip!
